Coal production in Brazil stood at around 7.35 million short tons in 2021, an increase of approximately 19 percent in comparison to the previous year. Production of coal in the South American country has been on a continual annual growth since 2017, after a 44 percent compound decrease reported between 2013 and 2017. In 2021, coal accounted for around 5.6 percent of Brazil's primary energy consumption.
