Average share of lifetime earnings lost due to COVID-19 by race U.S. 2020
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, many K-12 students had to make the switch from in-person learning to remote learning. It is estimated that the learning loss due to this shift will cause students to earn 2.2 percent less over their lifetime. This effect is predicted to be most significant for Black students, who are estimated to earn 3.3 percent less over their lifetimes.
