Finland: communication network incidents by severity

In 2020, there were four severe incidents in communication networks and services that affected at least 300 thousand people in Finland. In total, 67 significant incidents in the performance of communication networks and services were reported that year. Overall, both the severity and number of performance incidents showed a declining trend from 2011 to 2020.

The source adds the following information: "Telecommunications operators report significant incidents in the performance of their networks and services to Traficom. In Traficom’s Regulation, performance incidents are rated depending on their severity, that is, the affected communication service, the size of geographical area and number of users affected by the incident. There are four levels of severity: A, B, C and D. Level A incidents are the most severe ones and level D incidents the least severe. Telecommunications operators send Traficom detailed reports about incidents of levels A, B and C (not D)."
