Global oil and gas industry employment change by country 2020
Australia's oil and gas industry workforce decreased by roughly one quarter in 2020, more than in any other country. As the industry struggled under lower oil prices and demand following the coronavirus pandemic, employment sharply declined. In the United States, the world's largest oil producing country, an estimated 11 percent of the oil and gas workforce were laid off.
