Forecast of share of population in extreme poverty in Africa 1996-2065
Extreme poverty in Africa is forecast to decline drastically. The share of people living in extreme poverty would reach 1.7 percent between 2056 and 2065, compared to around 35 percent in the ten years from 2016 to 2025. In fact, the continent's socio-demographics will experience a significant development, including considerable population growth. Moreover, improving health and social conditions will determine lower poverty levels as well as an increase in life expectancy.
