Number of new female-led unicorns in the U.S. 2013-2021
The number of female-led startups that became unicorns in the United States fluctuated between 2013 and 2021. Between January and March 2021, six female-led U.S. startups became unicorns. A unicorn is a privately held startup company that is valued at over one billion U.S. dollars. There were 10 new female-led unicorns reported in the U.S. in 2020, five less than the previous year. The U.S. was home to the majority of new female-led unicorns worldwide in recent years.
