French women having money problems buying menstrual protection since lockdown 2020

Menstrual precariousness refers to the situation in which individuals who menstruate do not have sufficient economic resources to purchase menstrual protection and hygiene products during menstruation. Yet, containment has been synonymous with financial difficulties for many young French people, many of whom fear that one day they will be confronted with a situation of insecurity. In June 2020, this was the case for nearly a third of young French women when it came to menstrual protections: 32 percent of them said they had had financial difficulties in obtaining them over the past three months.
