Share of international migrants in Ghana 2019, by age group
In 2019, the majority of the international migrants in Ghana were between the ages of 20 and 64 years (72.6 percent). Moreover, people 19 years and younger, as well as above the age of 65 years, covered 22.9 percent and 4.5 percent of the total migrant population in Ghana, respectively. Overall, the foreign-born population in the country added up to around 4.67 million people in 2019, representing only 1.5 percent of Ghana's total population. Compared to a decade earlier, the number of migrants in the country more than doubled.
