COVID-19: percentage change in visitors to leading global art museums 2020-2022
In 2022, the number of visitors to most leading art museums worldwide remained below the figures reported prior to the onset of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. That year, attendance at the Louvre in Paris, the most visited art museum worldwide, was 20 percent lower than in 2019. Meanwhile, the National Gallery in London recorded the highest decline in visitors from 2019 to 2022 among the selected museums, with a 55 percent drop in attendance.
