Lower secondary completion rate worldwide 2000-2019

The completion rate of lower secondary schools worldwide stood at around 76 percent in 2019. The completion rate increased over the past two decades as only about 63 percent of children in lower secondary age finished school in 2000. The highest completion rate was registered in 2016 when roughly 76.1 percent completed lower secondary school. By comparison, the completion rate for children in primary school stood at about 90 percent in 2019.
