The term 'staycation' is typically used to refer to a holiday spent in one's home country rather than abroad, or one spent at home and involving day trips to local attractions. A September 2022 survey revealed that the South West was the leading region for upcoming domestic overnight trips during autumn in the United Kingdom, with 15 percent of respondents stating that they intended to holiday in this region. Meanwhile, 10 percent of respondents said that they intended to visit Scotland during their autumn holiday, while only two percent stated that they would like to visit Northern Ireland.
