Borrowings of the Nigerian government 2015-2020, by source
In 2020, the Nigerian government borrowed a total of 6.2 trillion Naira, some 16 billion U.S. dollars. The main source of loans was the Central bank of Nigeria, which has been the main borrower over the last six years taken into consideration. In addition, domestic borrowings accounted for 2.1 trillion Naira, the second largest amount in 2020.
