COVID-19 growth rate of global app location opt-in by region 2020

In February 2020, location opt-in rates decreased year-over-year for seven out of eight examined regions. By comparison, between February and June 2020 location opt-in for mobile apps increased in all the monitored regions except for Eastern Europe. The increase is due to the global coronavirus outbreak, which led people to rely more heavily on in-app location tracking and location-based services. Between February and June 2020, Southern Asia reached the highest growth rate among all the examined regions, with mobile app users increasing their location opt-in rates by 163 percent. Apps related to the medical, health & fitness industries registered the highest location opt-in growth rate among all examined industry verticals.
