According to a survey on consumer insights in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in 2020, the share of respondents who prefer to buy offline as well as online increased from 73 percent in 2019 to 80 percent in 2020 in the United Arab Emirates. Shopping behaviors were altered significantly to adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the lockdowns, store closures, and protective measures taken to prevent its spread.
