By 2050, the demand for graphite in energy storage applications is expected to account for nearly 54 percent of the overall mineral demand for energy storage, as graphite is used for the anode in many types of batteries. Nickel is forecast to account for the second-largest share of energy storage mineral demand at that time, as nickel is used for the cathode part of many battery types.
