Power sector CO₂ emissions in the U.S. 2018-2023, by month
Monthly U.S. electric power sector emissions averaged approximately 119 million metric tons of carbon dioxide (MtCO₂) in 2023. The highest monthly emissions that year were recorded in July, at 163 MtCO₂. Monthly electric power sector emissions follow a similar pattern each year, with emissions typically highest in July and lowest in April.
