Number of fishers in Indonesia 2011-2020
In 2020, there were 2.36 million fishers in Indonesia, an increase of nearly 300 hundred thousands from the previous year. Small-scale fisheries provide the majority of Indonesia's domestic fish consumption. Small-scale fishers, defined as those with fishing vessels of less than 12 gross tons, play an important part in the Indonesian economy, accounting for more than 90 percent of all fishers.
