Value of transactions at POS terminals in Kenya 2019-2022
As of December 2022, the value of payments with bank cards in Kenya reached 24.6 billion Kenyan shillings (KSh), around 193.4 million U.S. dollars. The value referred to transactions conducted with debit, credit, prepaid, and charge cards in point of sale (POS) terminals. Between April and June 2020, the value of card transactions in Kenya declined sharply, coinciding with the period when more rigorous movement restrictions were implemented amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
