In 2020, the Dutch government implemented a series of grants to support the cultural sector in the Netherlands during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In that year, roughly 56 thousand self-employed workers from cultural industries made use of the Tozo-1 scheme, a financial fund specifically addressed to freelancers working in this sector. Meanwhile, around 4.5 thousand companies applied for the TVL-1 scheme, addressing entrepreneurs of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that were expecting a sales loss of at least 30 percent between June 1 to September 30, 2020.
