Journalism in 2020 and changes in approaches to work worldwide in 2021
The year 2020 was a turbulent to say the least, and a global study on journalism revealed that the year's events changed how journalists approach their posts and content, with 33.3 percent of journalists worldwide saying that they now look for topics addressing how to promote diversity, inclusion, and equality. Additionally, 36.5 percent reported spending time looking for positive examples of how companies and communities help others. The COVID-19 pandemic also had a major effect on journalism, with 45.5 percent of respondents looking for new perspectives on reporting about the outbreak. This comes as no surprise given that the study also found that feeling fatigued by COVID-19 reporting was the biggest challenge journalists faced in 2020.
