Percentage of ration card coverage in Egypt 2018, by geographic region
As of 2017/2018, the share of the Egyptian population that was covered by ration cards was 88.5 percent. Rural areas in lower Egypt had the highest share, with more than 96 percent of the population provided with ration cards. It was followed by rural areas in upper Egypt, which had the highest share of its population under the national poverty line, with 94.3 percent being covered by ration cards.
