Power production breakdown in Nigeria 2022, by source
Natural gas is by far the most common source for electricity production in Nigeria. In 2022, 70.5 percent of the country's electricity generation was derived from this source. Hydroelectric power ranked second, accounting for about 27 percent of Nigeria's power production. Nigeria has the greatest natural gas reserves in Africa and is also among the world's largest countries by proved reserves.
