Foreign debt in Colombia 2006-2020
In 2020, Colombia's foreign debt added up to nearly 155 billion U.S. dollars, up from around 40 billion dollars reported in 2006. This represents an increase of close to 288 percent in a matter of nearly one and a half decades, resulting from a rising trend observed during the period analyzed. In 2018, the volume of foreign debt equaled almost 17 percent of the country's GDP.
