Hospital discharges after a pregnancy issue in Europe 2019, by country
Discharges from European hospitals following a health problem related to pregnancy, childbirth, or puerperium varied greatly per country. In 2019, with 2,124 discharges per 100 thousand inhabitants, Ireland had the highest number of discharges after a pregnancy or childbirth related issue. On the other hand, Liechtenstein had the lowest number of discharges, with only 10 per 100 thousand inhabitants. A discharge occurs whenever a patient leaves because of finalization of treatment, signs out against medical advice, transfers to another health care institution, or on death.
