Demand for oil liquid fuels in Europe 2019-2022, by fuel type
Demand for oil liquids in Europe dropped in 2020 following the coronavirus pandemic. As governments imposed mobility restrictions, the aviation industry was hit especially hard, with jet fuel demand falling by 60 percent in 2020 compared to 2019. With lockdown restrictions eased and air traffic recovering, it is expected that jet fuel demand in Europe will increase to 1.2 million barrels per day by 2022. However, this projection is still below pre-pandemic levels.
