Government expenditure in Tanzania 2020/2021, by segment
Tanzania's government spent a total of 26.6 trillion Tanzania shillings (TZS), approximately 11.4 billion U.S. dollars, in 2020/2021, of which most was recurrent expenditure (wages and salaries, interest costs, and other recurrent expenditure). Some 9.3 trillion TZS (around four billion U.S. dollars) were dedicated to development projects. According to the source, government expenditure was equivalent to 17.2 percent of the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2019/2020.
