The leading reason among women in Japan for putting on makeup less frequently during the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) was that the face masks could be used as covers as revealed in a survey conducted in August 2020. While 66 percent used makeup products less frequently because they could hide their face behind masks, only close to eight percent wanted to decrease the money and time spent on putting on makeup.
