India: age adjusted incidence rate of thyroid cancer by PBCR and gender

Papumpare district in the west Arunachal region in India had age adjusted incidence rate of thyroid cancer cases among female of over 16 cases per million female adults between the years 2012 and 2016. Whereas, the age incidence rate of thyroid cancer among men in that region was over three cases per million males in the country.

Population Based Cancer Registries (PBCRs) provides cancer incidence rates, compares cancer incidences and patterns across other registries including different subgroups of populations in the respective areas.

Age-adjusted rates is a cacluation made to afford fairer comparisons between groups with different age distributions. For instance, in a population, the age-adjusted rates for the sample under study would have the same age distribution as the standard populaiton.
