Proceeds of privatized companies through minority public offering in Egypt 1991-2009
Between 1991 and 2009, the Egyptian government implemented a program of privatization regarding its public business sector companies via different means of offerings. 20 percent of the sold shares of Telecom Egypt went through public offering, generating over 5.1 billion Egyptian pounds (327.26 million U.S. dollars). Moreover, Sidi Krir Petrochemicals offered 20 percent of their shares, generating around 1.63 billion Egyptian pounds (103.89 million U.S. dollars). Furthermore, Eastern Tobacco publicly offered 34 percent, which generated 549 million Egyptian pounds (35.01 million U.S. dollars).
