Most valuable sneakers sold at auctions worldwide 2023
In April 2023, auction house Sotheby's sold a pair of Nike Air Jordan 13, worn and signed by Michael Jordan, for 2.2 million U.S. dollars, making them the most expensive sneakers and one the most valuable Michael Jordan items sold at auctions to date. The athlete wore these shoes in Game 2 of the 1998 NBA Finals, the so-called "Last Dance". Kanye West's Nike Air Yeezy 1 "Prototype" ranked second on the list, fetching roughly 1.8 million U.S. dollars. The Nike Air Yeezy 1's are known as "Prototype" as they were seen for the first time during West's Grammy performance in 2008, before being officially launched on the market.
