Undergoing and planned build-out of lithium-ion battery factories worldwide 2015-2020
In 2020, there were 181 lithium-ion factories under various stages of planning and construction in the world. Accelerated by the Covid-19 pandemic, the global build-out of lithium-ion factories increased by more than 50 percent in 2020 compared with the previous year. Out of the 181 factories under construction and planning in 2020, 136 were located in China, including most of the largest lithium-ion factories in the world.
