These reached around 8.8 trillion Tanzania shillings (TZS) in 2021, roughly 3.8 billion U.S. dollars, and corresponded to some 20 percent of total bank assets in the country. Following closely, NMB Bank accumulated total assets of 8.7 trillion TZS (approximately 3.7 billion U.S. dollars). In its turn, the National Bank of Commerce (BNC) had assets valued at 2.2 trillion TZS (926 million U.S. dollars).
