Most of the world's largest container terminal operators intend to increase their capacity until 2023. China Cosco Shipping operated container terminals that were able to handle some 130 million TEUs of containerized cargo in 2018. In 2023, the company is expected to increase the capacity of its terminals to around 140 million TEUs. The global container port capacity is projected to reach almost 1.3 billion TEUs in 2023.
