With the rise of information and communication technologies, the Pedestrian Drive has been extended to services other than the Drive, which consists of ordering groceries online and picking them up by car. In 2019, Nielsen had identified more than five thousand Drive services. Among these Drive services, the Pedestrian Drive had about 28 locations which is, just like the Drive, a pick up location for groceries but accessible by foot. In 2020 and according to the source, this number has skyrocketed to more than 420 locations in France. The supermarket Cora had by far the most locations, also acting as the pioneer of the Pedestrian Drive, with the first service being installed in 2016 in Mertz.
