According to a 2018 survey, a quarter of respondents with employer-sponsored health insurance said they cut spending on food, clothes, and/or household items in order to pay for health care or insurance costs. Among respondents who reported health care affordability problems, this was even higher, with some 65 percent having made such sacrifices. This statistic illustrates the percentage of workers with employer-sponsored health insurance in the U.S. who reported select sacrifices or compensation strategies to pay their health care or health insurance costs as of 2018.
