Cycling without a helmet was by far the most reported cyclist behavior in Europe, reaching 69.2 percent in 2018. Just over 69 percent of respondents had not worn a helmet at least once in the past 30 days before the survey was conducted. By contrast, under 39 percent of respondents had cycled on a road next to a bicycle lane, which was the second most reported user behavior.

Participating European countries were Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. This survey includes all road users from the pool of respondents who identified as cyclists. The source did not specify the age of respondents.
