Opinions on the abolishment of prioritization for COVID-19 vaccine Germany 2021
Based on a survey conducted in Germany, 63 percent of respondents thought it was right that there was no more prioritization for getting vaccinated against the coronavirus (COVID-19). This was abolished by June 7, 2021. Previously, vaccination appointments in Germany were assigned based on age groups or vulnerability to to health reasons, such as pre-existing conditions. With prioritization being no more, theoretically, every resident in Germany was eligible for a vaccination appointment, except age groups for whom there was yet no recommendation to get vaccinated, such as infants and children under a certain age. In practice, residents have to take care of getting an appointment on their own by the means available at a given time. Free appointments are available based on vaccine deliveries.
