Latin America: support for Church 2020, by country
The level of trust in the church (including all churches) varied remarkably among Latin American countries. Paraguay and Honduras were the countries with the highest level of trust in the church, at 77 and 74 percent respectively. In Chile, where the sex abuse scandals uncovered in 2018 severely damaged the institution's reputation, trust level was merely at 31 percent, the second lowest in the region.
