Self-sufficiency rate for meat Germany 1991-2022
In 2022, meat in Germany showed a self-sufficiency rate of 116 percent, based on preliminary figures, which means that no additional imports were needed to cover domestic demand. The self-sufficiency rate represents a number which shows the percentage of necessary agricultural products produced domestically, i.e. which share of agricultural products necessary for the market can a country produce on its own. In case of shortage, which is a self-sufficiency rate under 100 percent, imports become necessary.
