Homeowners behind on mortgage payments in the U.S. 2022, by age
Homeowners between 40 and 54 years made up the majority of homeowners that were behind on their mortgage payments in the United States in October 2022, with a number of close to 1.8 million. Second in rank were roughly 1.24 million homeowners between 25 and 39 years. The smallest number of mortgage borrowers who struggled repaying their mortgage loan was for those between 18 and 24 years.
