According to a survey conducted in December 2020, the pandemic had negative impacts on the mental health and well-being of nurses in the United States. Over 70 percent of responding nurses stated to have experienced exhaustion and 64 percent of nurses had felt overwhelmed in the midst of the pandemic. As of May 2023, less nurses reported feeling exhausted or overwhelmed, but still half of nurses have experienced these negative feelings in the past 14 days. Moreover, two-thirds of nurses also reported being stressed.
