During a 2021 survey, more than 2,500 U.S. consumers were asked what they disliked about shopping online. The most frequently stated reason was the inability to see the product in person, selected by 44 percent of respondents. In addition, not being able to try on what they liked before purchase was the second most cited reason, with 39 percent of consumers surveyed in the North American country expressing this discontent.

The study was conducted by combining Foresight Factory's proprietary data methodologies and existing trends intelligence, with newly commissioned quantitative and qualitative research across 12 global markets, including 2,506 U.S. respondents, in May 2021, with interlocking quotas set for age and gender.
