In 2021, the most common reason stated by nurses in the United States who plan to leave their position was that their work had negatively affected their health and well-being. According to the survey, nearly one out of two responding nurses justified their future resignation due to the negative impact of their work on their welfare. Insufficient staffing was the second most stated reason among nurses.
