Net forest conversion (deforestation) and enteric fermentation were the largest sources of emissions from agricultural land in 2022, with each responsible for roughly three billion metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (GtCO₂e). This accounted for more than 50 percent of global emissions on agricultural land.
