Share of corruption and sanctionable cases closed by PIAC in Africa 2021, by region
In 2021, 64 percent of corruption and other sanctionable cases closed by the Office of Integrity and Anti-Corruption (PIAC) were from Western and Eastern Africa. In their turn, Central and Southern Africa each accounted for seven percent of such cases. PIAC is a department of the African Development Bank (AfDB) mandated to carry out independent investigations into corruption and other sanctionable practices within the AfDB and AfDB-financed operations, and to develop preventive measures that would mitigate the risk of such practices.
