North America's share of global plastic material production 2014-2021
In 2021, North America (Canada, the U.S., and Mexico) accounted for 18 percent of global plastics production. This made North America the world's second-largest plastic producing region that year, behind only China. The total global production volume of plastics in 2021 amounted to an estimated 391 million metric tons.
