Countries with Human Rights Institutions 2021, by region
In order to be internationally recognized, National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) must adhere to the standards of the Paris Principles, initiated by the UN General Assembly in 1993. The majority of Human Rights Institutions in compliance with the Paris Principles are located in Europe, with 25 countries having a national institution. Africa also had 25 countries, while Oceania, only has three, in Australia, New Zealand, and Samoa.
