Bed occupancy rate in Zanzibar 2020-2021
In June 2021, hotels in Zanzibar registered a bed occupancy rate of 32.5 percent. It increased from 14.4 percent in the previous month. Compared to the preceding year, accommodation establishments in the Tanzanian archipelago recorded a substantial improvement in the occupancy rate. As of June 2020, amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, only 0.5 percent of available hotels bed were occupied. That month, the number of international tourists arriving in Zanzibar was at one of its lowest levels.
