Top social media traffic referrers to YouTube by monthly traffic 2021

In March 2021, a large part of traffic to YouTube.com was redirected through Facebook's own link shim l.facebook.com, averaging close to 40 million monthly visits. YouTube's own URL link shortener youtu.be came second, accounting for more than 33 million visits per month. Reddit.com accounted for 26.6 million monthly visits in the examined period, ranking third among the leading social media based on average monthly traffic referrers to YouTube.com.

According to the source:"We pulled 15,000 keywords from our Google Keywords Database, which triggered a Featured Video result on the SERP. We took a look at YouTube’s top 10 search results for each of these keywords to check how different video features affect their positions in YouTube search. Based on this data, we gathered a wide range of metrics to assess which of them affect videos’ performance. [...] We used median values instead of average values to compare metrics for different positions since they are more resistant to outliers."
