Japan: prices for advanced car safety systems companies would pay 2020

In a survey conducted in November 2020, companies in Japan reported being willing to pay 54 thousand Japanese yen for an automatic emergency braking (AEB) system on average, indicating the highest reservation price among advanced driver-assistance systems. The largest share was in the range of up to 50 thousand yen for this feature, with 30 percent.

*Companies of various industries from the areas around Tokyo (50km), Osaka (30km), and Nagoya (30km), owning small- and mini-sized freight vehicles. Moreover, the survey included companies of the retail industry and restaurant industry from these areas not owning such trucks.
As some respondents did not wish for the respective feature no matter the price, the number of respondents per safety feature varied, ranging between n=440 and n=269.
